Matt worked closely with me and showed lots of patience while I got all the documents correct. The cover is beautiful and expresses the book well. Well done!
Very attentive, quick to respond with excellent inputs and a precise interpretation of the brief. A thoroughly professional artist/designer at a competitive cost for the self-publisher.
Excellent grasp of the concept, prompt communication throughout, and quick delivery of the finished product. Would definitely highly recommend to anyone!
JB.d was great to work with. Submitted a number of great designs and once I had awarded one, JB.d made all the changes I asked for. I would recommend JB.d without hesitation.
How marquina started their book cover journey
Who are you known as?
"Grin and Air It" is the name of my book about breast cancer and air guitar. Authorpreneur Launch is my company.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I'm a book marketer who happened to be diagnosed with breast cancer last year. To get through treatment, I got creative and channeled my energy into a 'Glam Chemo' photo project and competing in air guitar competitions. I won locally in Staten Island (while starting radiation treatment), qualified 3rd in Boston to go to Nationals (at the end of radiation treatments), and finished Nationals in Austin, Texas as the 8th best fake guitar player in the US! - ha! There was an article about my positive approach to cancer here: http://www.people.com/article/glam-chemo-project - And it was the Air Guitar community who helped me when I was feeling down (among family and other close friends, of course). Expressing myself creatively through cancer has helped me stay positive and I believe it improved my outcome - at least in the sense that my perception of things was 'I can do this!' I have finished a few chapters of a book - the working title is 'Grin and Air It: How a positive attitude + air guitar helped me through cancer treatment'. (see attached screenshots for images I'm using to collect email addresses). My target audience is other young women who have had cancer and I'd like the book's tone to be upbeat. There is one other Air Guitar book out called 'To Air Is Human'. Here is a link for reference: https://www.amazon.com/Air-Human-Be…1594482101 - we can make a better cover than that, yes? Can I hear a 'Heck Yeah!' ;)
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
IMPORTANT: The colors should *not* be 'breast cancer pink'. I do *not* want a breast cancer ribbon icon/graphic.
I want the book cover to be bad a$$ - to show strength through cancer diagnosis, treatment and outcome.
Attached are several images of me in chemo and air guitaring. BUT It is not imperative that you use these - be your own creative bad-a$$ self and do what you feel would help me get my book recognized. If you would like hi-res or another type of file, please email me. I have a *ton* of air guitar photos. If you google 'marquina air guitar' or 'marteeka' you can find more.
