The Accidental Sheriff
Ron Schwab is the author of the popular Western series, The Law Wranglers, The Coyote Saga, and The Lockes, as well as several standalone novels, including Grit, a winner of the Western Fictioneers Peacemaker Award for Best Western Novel, and Cut Nose, a finalist for the Western Writers of America Best Western Historical Novel. He is a member of the Western Writers of America, Western Fictioneers, and Mystery Writers of America.
The Accidental Sheriff takes place in 1885 in a frontier town in Wyoming in the United States (basically "The Old West"). The book is about Grant, a former soldier (who is now a writer), who travels to a small town town in Wyoming. When the small town sheriff becomes injured/incapacitated, Grant finds himself becoming the town's temporary sheriff and must solve a mystery while keeping the town safe.
Both men and women, probably middle-aged and older, across the United States (with some international readers).
Book cover type
Please look at some of the author's books at www.RonSchwabBooks.com to understand the "vibe" of what we're looking for. The font/design should evoke the Western genre Otherwise, I am open to different ideas. One concept I have thought about, though, is an image of Grant (the hero) finding/picking up a sheriff's badge on the ground in the middle of an Old West town. Perhaps there could would be some chaos in the city background, like a fire or gunfights or something like that. Just an idea. This is the first book of three related novels, so we would probably want to use the same designer for the other two (eventual) novel book covers to maintain thematic consistency.
What to avoid
Not necessarily. Again, please check www.RonSchwabBooks.com to be familiar with the types of covers we've used in the past.
