The goal of the Anytime Anywhere Learning Foundation (AALF) is to ensure that all children have access to unlimited opportunities to learn anytime and anywhere and that they have the tools that make this possible. To achieve this, AALF helps schools develop visionary leadership and knowledgeable, innovative educators. The book we are authoring is targeted to k-12 school and school district senior leaders around the world who are interested in redesigning learning and transforming their schools, a transformation made possible by providing all learners with ubiquitous access to technology. Although technology is the enabler of this transformation, and this book does include sections on devices and infrastructure, its main ideas focus on vision, learning for 21st century children, and creating cultures that support change. What's your vision?
Cover for a 250+ page book (color) that provides a framework and action guide for school leaders around the world and their leadership teams (K-12) as they implement major technology 1:1 initiatives for students (1:1 or 1 to 1 programs mean 1 laptop/tablet for each learner) and embrace the new learning opportunities this makes possible. Its emphasis is on re-thinking the role of school for modern learners raised in a digital world, rather than on implementing a technology initiative for the sake of deploying technology. Key words/ideas are innovation, vision, a focus on learning (not teaching) in the 21st century, transformation. Book Title: #AnytimeAnywhereLearners Subtitle: A blueprint for transforming where, when, and how young people learn. Authors: Bruce Dixon, Susan Einhorn The framework centers around 3 elements and the principles they represent. (vision and goals, learning and teaching redesign, strategies for change) that lead to the next section focused on tactics for a successful initiative implementation. ( Although the book describes a somewhat linear path of actions, there are also a number of essays, school stories, quotations from experts, planning templates, and a checklist, rather than being a straight narrative or list of instructions. ) The school leaders who use the book need to be more than passive readers - they will need to take action and be able to lead change. The layout of the book invites users to add their own notes and information, so they aren’t just passive readers. No ‘traditional’ school imagery - no old schoolhouse, classrooms with rows of chairs and a teacher in the front, grades/report cards, etc. Think more about the excitement around learning, discovery, creativity (and, somewhat, technology). The design should be clean, not cluttered. Text fonts used in the book layout are include Roboto and “A Year Without Rain” (dafont.com) used solely for actions the user should take. Colors used in the book are: Orange - C0M80Y100K0, Light blue - C100M20Y25K0, Dark blue - C100M20Y10K60 Ideally, the hashtag in the title should incorporate the idea/symbol 1:1 in some way, without losing the sense of it being a hashtag. Book dimensions = 8" x 10" (21 cm x 26 cm) Final design should include spine and back cover. Back cover should also include the words: Anytime Anywhere Learning Foundation.
The organization’s logo is attached. This does not need to be on the front cover, but should be on the back cover. Also, attached is an excerpt from the book (not formatted) to provide an idea of the voice and approach of the book.
