Personal Finance through Everyday Stories from around the World
Elena Fernandez Prados
Elena is a finance professional and the author of a children's series on financial literacy. Her books celebrate the world's cultural diversity through storytelling. Titles include "Economics through Everyday Stories from around the World" and "Personal Finance through Everyday Stories from around the World".
My book is a children's guide to personal finance (ages 8-12). It teaches kids ways to manage and grow their money (savings, investments, etc), through 10 fictional short stories from different corners of the world (Nigeria, India, Lebanon, USA, China, Mexico, Ethiopia, etc). The tone is light-hearted and funny, making otherwise boring concepts attractive, and celebrating cultural diversity.
Children aged 8-12 and adults that want an easy and entertaining guide to personal finance. Teachers also use these in schools. Basically anyone that wants a different/ entertaining approach to an otherwise boring topic.
Book cover type
An original and colourful illustration for a children's book- showing 3 children riding a magic carpet. The magic carpet should be a dollar bill. The 3 children are happy, thrilled. They are multi-cultural and all wearing traditional clothing from their country (a Nigerian boy wearing Kente cloth, a Chinese girl wearing traditional red dress, and an American boy perhaps dressed like a cow-boy). It is broad day light. The sky is bright blue with some clouds and there are currency signs "raining" from the sky (the currency signs should be £, $, € and ¥ only). At the bottom of the illustration, there is planet earth showing the Americas and Europe/ Africa). Please use bright and vivid colours. Let it be fun, happy, entertaining and magical. ** I attach a draft of the layout for more details. **
What to avoid
Avoid serious or dark styles. I would like this to be a happy uplifting illustration for children and parents.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
