Laura Sowinski got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Create a book cover that will engage people who are affected by multiple sclerosis (MS)

The book's target audience is people newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I have lived with MS for 15 years. I offer a refreshing perspective for managing this chronic disease.
What's your vision?
Welcome and greetings designers! I am grateful to share my book project with you. I welcome all ideas that will bring life, intrigue, and beauty to my book through the cover you design. My book is intended for people with interest for self-healing inspiration, wellness, and multiple sclerosis. I need my book cover to draw in the reader who seeks solace, peace or comfort at a time when s/he is dealing with the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS). This book audience is people newly diagnosed with MS. The title is JUST DIAGNOSED: The Five Keys for Living with MS from the Driver's Seat I do not want the cover to be busy or "loud," nor blurry because these are symptoms that are often present when the MS is creating unwelcomed challenges. Given the title of the book and the acronym that I use for the chapters (D.R.I.V.E), I am thinking about a road or a point of view that looks into the horizon or landscape. Maybe a road sign is used for part of the wording? Maybe the road is curvy, straight, hilly, or other? I like photographed scenes involving nature, particularly when the sky is blue, grass is green, or when nature is thriving. I like it when the theme of the image carries from front - to spine- to back cover. I am also open to a cover that creates a nurturing sense about it. I want it to speak to both males and females. Though I suggested something with nature, I would not rule out a cover that is entirely different (e.g., simple, blending color hues, without pictures, etc.). My personality is upbeat; I offer loving inspiration to the world with this book, and I believe it will be the first of its kind. Thank you for investing your creative spirit in my project!
I anticipate that the book will be 8" x 5.5" in size. I would like to include the information below on the back cover: It doesn’t need to take you years of living with MS to recognize your opportunity to live differently. As someone living with MS for 15 years, I’ve learned that choosing the proper mindset at the time of diagnosis is the most important decision you can make with regards to managing the multiple sclerosis. I invite you to join me and choose the D.R.I.V.E. mindset. It's never too late. This book will show you the five keys to living with MS from the driver’s seat, so you can begin to diminish disillusionment and generate greater inner peace. Get the keys! Do it for you.
