Great work. It will help my career. I look forward to using the cover soon.
Our company uses K for our design work almost exclusively. When we provide her with all of the assets she truly needs, she is impressive. When we can't provide all of the assets, she works miracles!

I am a middle grade adventure fiction author. I write books for middle-school and early high school age children that incorporate earth science principles into fictional adventures.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I'm looking for a book cover, spine and back for both print and online use. The online versions should be both a flat cover and a 3D cover for various web applications. The design should generally follow the style of well known adventure series like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. Specifically, the artwork should be drawn as opposed to images/pictures and should convey a sense of wonder and/or discovery.
The title of the book is : A Day in the Park
The subtitle is: Ryan Hutton's Pre-Historic Adventure
both the title and subtitle should appear on the cover/spine as well as my name (Matt Weiss)
The book is about a group of 7th grade kids (Ryan, Casey and Jay) who go out to catch frogs in the woods when they discover something sticking out of the ground. Through the course of the book they learn it's a fossil woolly mammoth tusk and, with the help of a university professor, complete an excavation to expose the rest of the skeleton. In the book the main character (Ryan) has dreams where he is transported to a time 15,000 years ago when the last ice age was ending in the Midwestern USA. In the dream he walks down from a high ridge (end moraine) down into the start of a prairie/alpine forest. This scene could be the basis of the artwork but does not have to be. I've put some ideas for the cover, character pictures, and scenery from the book on a Pinterest page at: pinterest.com/mattweissauthor.
Another possible scene for the cover would be when all three main characters initially find the tusk (think elephant tusk) with the wide end (that would be by the head) of the individual tusk sticking a few inches out of the ground within a narrow dirt path (deer path) through the woods (temperate forest). The tusk is at the crest of a small hill about 6-7 feet high. I'm open to other ideas as well and any questions that would help clarify or identify other scenes in the book that would be appropriate for a cover.
My intent is that the target audience for this book be middle school to early high school age boys. I'm hoping that this book will be the first of a series so it might be helpful if this design were able to have the title and/or subtitle in a position that it can easily be swapped out with future titles.
The back cover should have room for my picture (although I do not know what size it is, I'll attach it) and a short 3-4 sentence description of the book. I don't know if the design from the front cover should wrap around to the back of if it should be separate with just text on the spine. I'll leave that to the individual artists. Please look at the Pinterest page I mentioned above to get a sense of the scenery.
