It was an absolute pleasure working with this designer. He was prompt, attentive to detail and always willing to listen and take on board suggestions. I have no problems in recommending happyland for your design project. We are very excited about the book cover he has produced; it is simple, powerful and effective.

Marijana helped me to create a design that accomplished the remit that I outlined at the start of my competition. I am very pleased at her fast response time for amendments and her willingness to assist me to get my perfect design.
Das Ergebnis des Designs war überragend. Barbara hat perfekt verstanden was ich mir vorgestellt habe und das auf Anhieb umgesetzt.
How michaelp Y started their book cover journey
Who are you known as?
Be Bully Free
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are looking for a cover design for a book called Be Bully Free. The book is a practical, hands-on guide that details 24 different bullying scenarios (stories) then outlines what can be done to help the victim. The audience is broad - but mainly, adolescents, parents, schools
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The main theme of the book is empowerment. We are talking about bullies and victims, but we are really focussing on the victim and empowering the victim to stand up and show strength, resolve. It's about knowing yourself, trusting yourself, believing in yourself and moving forward in life. You can't change the bully, but YOU can change. Images and designs on the cover that portray this sense of empowerment and growth will be viewed favourably. We want a strong, appealing, memorable cover. We are looking for something subtle that suggests empowerment, coming out of the dark and into light; growth - things like that. We would like something bold, original, thought provoking, memorable. We don't really want pictures of children in traditional, stereo-typical bullying type poses. The focus is not on the bully and we don't want the bully on the cover. This book will be an e-book as well as a regular book. We are looking to establish ourselves firmly in the Australian market but keen to go international also. We would also be delighted if a logo could come or be extracted from part of the design; if this is possible.
The names of the authors are Michael Panckridge and Cathie Thornton.
If possible we would also like the following Shoutline on the cover... "This is a fantastic resource that clearly and calmly helps people to think about ways to handle bullying". Andrew Fuller
The book is very readable. Apart from the 24 stories and the various suggested strategies, there are sections on nutrition, exercise, self-talk, anxiety, sleep etc as well as sections for parents, schools and further reading. So it's very much a self-help book. It's a book that kids mightn't read cover to cover, rather dip into. It's a tough gig to come up with a cover that will appeal to such a variety of people but we're hopeful someone will nail it!
I’ve attached a PDF of the book size which is 153 x 229mm (6 x 9”) but it shows the back cover, spine, front cover and bleed and margin information.
