ann.grimwade got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Design a fantastic cover for my book "Moving Out!"

What's your vision?
I would like a cover designed for my book "Moving Out!". The subtitle is "Practical stuff you need to know when you move out of home". It is a book for 18-25 year olds who are moving out of home for the first time, so it needs to have a 'young' feel. It's also important that it is clear that the book is for both males and females. I like simple and striking. I would like the front and back cover designed. The book will be size 6" x 9", portrait. The book will be printed in hardcopy as well as uploaded on Createspace and also produced as an e-book. I would like a low resolution pdf version and also versions for both Amazon Kindle (front cover) and Smashwords (front cover). I attach 3 photos of a book that I like - "Raising Boys". I like the big photo on the front cover but would prefer my name down the bottom of the page. I like the author photo and blurb down the bottom in a banner, and I like the other photos on the side up top. But don't feel you have to follow this design - it's just an idea that I like but feel free to use your creativity. I also attach a photo of a young man standing, white background, holding a pile of books. I really like this photo as it shows immediately what the book is about, and also that it's for boys not just girls so I would like this on the cover of my book. However, if you think you can do better, feel free to do something else and again use your creative licence :) I like blue (the colour of my Rampallion Press logo, attached). I also like green but choose whatever colours you think work best. If you choose to do a similar back cover to Raising Boys, I also attach a couple of photos you might like to choose from, as well as my logo and barcode and ISBN. If you use the photo of the boy on the front, it might be an idea to have the girl with the box on the back - just to show it's for both boys and girls. But it's all up to you. (I love the photo of the fish but it has already been used on the front cover, just with one bowl, on a similar book overseas). One last thing - you will see that I don't yet have the text for a recommendation which I would like on the back cover but I'm hoping that I will have that over the next couple of days. If that doesn't work out, we will need to leave it out. Thanks very much and have fun!
