Nelly is my girl! She always comes through for me!
T.J. Rogers's use of retro science fiction in this cover was a bit hit, with lots of colour co-ordination along a green-blue theme. The alien positioned in front of the time tunnel machine was designed to look weird, eye-catching, and irresistible. The cool, sleek title jived in well with a futuristic, modern theme for this book.
Jana is truly the most profoundly talented artist you can find! I've worked with her on two projects now and she just simply "nails" it! Much gratitude!

I am a writer and the book I am currently writing is on how to get fit and lose weight.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I am looking for a book cover for my book, 'How to Get Fit and Lose Weight Without Leaving Your Armchair.' This is about how to lose weight literally from your lounge room while watching TV or a DVD. My target audience is women because women need to multi-task more and are often stuck in the home, whether due to childcare or because they are older and less mobile or have safety concerns about exercising outside. The tone of the book is light-hearted and funny. I am looking for an image of an attractive woman with her legs flung over the side of an elegant armchair (possibly a button-backed Victorian-style armchair or something rather French looking). She should be glamourous and in evening dress, showing that exercise does not have to be sweaty, serious or torturous. The title of the book "How to Get Fit and Lose Weight Without Leaving Your Armchair' should be on the front cover together with my name as author, Helen Verlander. I am attaching a copy of a photo of film star, Ava Gardner, I came across, shortly after having the idea for the book cover, to serve as inspiration. The hair style is too fifties and it is too dark but the feeling of glamour, dress, pose and armchair are similar to what I imagined but you can be creative with this. The woman should look grown-up, not a teenager because the target is all women.
The feeling of the cover should be light and bright - lime green, shocking pink, aqua blue, red (I don't mean these colours to be restrictive), whatever works. It is about making exercise and fitness fun and stylish.
