Adventures in Exile
The book follows a group of characters forced into relocation to settlements on the moon and Mars as part of a population reduction program on Earth.
Fans of science fiction/dystopian/post-apocalyptic.
My overall concept is of a cover that depicts figures (no more than three) appearing to be tumbling through space, as their lives have gone out of control. This wouldn't be representative of actual events, merely a metaphor for their fate. I can envision Earth being a part of the composition, as well. However, I don't know how to work it so that it wouldn't appear to be literal--as if they were falling away from Earth, suspended in space. I know that there needs to be some reference point along with the figures tumbling away and Earth would seem to be the most logical thing, but my skills are certainly not in creating visual compositions. I'm attaching an image of the cover of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Hopefully, this gives some idea of the posture of human figures in a tumbling freefall. In Weir's cover, the figure is outfitted in a spacesuit. The spacesuit on his cover is a fairly conventional version, the type we've all seen before. I'd prefer not to have that kind of look, as it might seem the figures are part of a NASA expedition...which they definitely are not. ADDITIONAL INFO: What I have in mind is an abstract thing--an expression of how these people have been removed from their home planet and are in a terrible limbo. Not living in any sense they've known through their lives, living in artificial environments...but neither has their existence been snuffed out.

Great design. Lived up to every request I made for the cover and clearly spent time thinking of how to make the most of the design since detail, colors, and composition were outstanding.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
