The Game Academy
The Game Academy runs a number of enrichment programs for youths using role-playing games as our means of engagement. This includes after-school programming, summer camps, weekend events, and in-class educational units.
Our purpose is to empower learners (children and adults alike) to achieve social, emotional and academic success through engaging, interactive role-playing games.
We believe in the empowering and transformative effects of Role-playing Games (RPGs), and their value as a mode of education. Our vision is to bring these interactive RPGs into the mainstream of educational offerings for learners of all ages, backgrounds and interests, and to engage otherwise “disenfranchised” learners in powerful learning experiences that promote social, emotional and cognitive development.
I'd like to explore the following colors:
Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty.
Yellows: Energy, intellect, fun and youth.
Oranges: Creativity, adventure and happiness.
We are looking to blend the confidence brought through classical educational imagery (shield, torch, etc.) with elements of gaming (dice) and whimsey and wonder (iconic cartoon-style characters, etc.). The logo should appeal to both children and to their parents, as well as potential donors.
UPDATE: On discovery of the designs that have been contributed so far, I am finding I am being moved more by the mature abstract designs with less going on, but a strong brand message of responsibility as well as a bit of playfulness. While I am open to someone getting my initial ideas *right*, and I'm totally seeing the effort going in, perhaps a less cartoony style is what's working better. I am thinking that I may have to have an organizational brand which is more serious, and a co-brand, or sub-brands I can use for kids.
ALSO - to be clear, we do not work with computer games, so any designs that highlight controllers, joysticks, digital effects, etc. are off target. We use tabletop role-playing games (think Dungeons and Dragons, etc.)
