I'm Kyra and I work in PR at 99designs. I know the importance of feedback in a contest and I intend to give plenty. If you are working on a design and need more time, let me know in the private feedback section! :) For this contest, I'm looking for one invite to our wedding party (two parties actually) in both Amsterdam and Brisbane. You'll be able to sketch both of these cities characteristic elements and incorporate them in the invite.
What's your vision?
Hi designers! We (Kyra and Dave) got married in June last year. It was a fun and intimate wedding in London with just 10 people (family and a few friends). This year we're having some parties in our native countries the Netherlands and Australia. These parties will be informal celebrations with friends - beer and wedding cake! I'd love if the most talented design community in the world would design an illustration for our invite. I'm including our wedding invite from last year and would like this illustration to be designed in a similar, simple, style: more of a SKETCHED style than harsh lines, and in just one color. (If you have a great idea with a few more colors, I'm open for suggestions!) I'm looking to feature both of our cities, Amsterdam and Brisbane, on the invite. Represented by a row of traditional canal houses (about three of them) on the left and a bird's-eye (top-down) view of the Brisbane river on the right, both characteristics elements in these cities. Elements this invite/illustration should contain: ** It should be relatively SIMPLE, because it needs to be PRINTED on an invite (relatively small) ** Dates On the left by the canal houses: August 31 On the right by the Brisbane river: September 14 ** I'm adding images of typical Dutch canal houses and the top-down view of the Brisbane river (please do a little Google search as well). I'd like to see how you can position these elements next to each other, but also complementing each other. (Canal houses on the left and a bird's-eye view (open for interpretation) of the river on the right.) If the river is hard to combine with the rest of the image, I'm open for suggestions - the main thing is that it should be recognizable (a Queenslander house with palmtrees?). ** I'd like the letters "K&D" to also have a place in the design - placement will be left up to you. ** If you feel the words "Amsterdam" and "Brisbane" should be incorporated in the illustration - maybe underneath the dates? - feel free to experiment with this. ** Please use the invitation I attach as an inspiration and example of drawing style. I also like the fonts used in this invite - don't copy, but feel inspired. :) ** I don't have the wording for this invite ready yet, but I'd love some suggestions for typography here too. Follow-on work is a real possibility here, when the exact wording is ready. ** I'd like to see this invite designed in horizontal, landscape form. The illustration on the front and text - to come later - on the back (like a flip-over). ** We're 26 and 30 years old, so please no typical old-fashioned card. It needs to be CUTE, but please NO typical wedding stuff. ** We'd like to keep it stylish, simple, hip and fun. Make sure to give it some character! Thanks so much! Kyra & Dave
Do let me know if something is unclear of it you'd like to discuss certain elements: I'm totally open for suggestions!
