A graphic that contrasts curriculum and instruction that focuses solely on knowledge and skills with curriculum and instruction that focuses on knowledge, skills, concepts and generalizations. In other words, curriculum and instruction that includes a 3rd dimension beyond memorization and practice. Conceptual curriculum and instruction are deliberately designed to require students to think, understand and transfer their learning.

Currently there is a copyrighted graphic that depict this idea. It shows a flat mat with one side labeled skills and the underside labeled topics and facts. Then it shows a cube, broken apart slightly so you can see topics, facts and skills are the foundation, at the bottom of the cube, but the walls are labeled concepts, generalizations. I am looking for something fresh and creative.
