I'm Michael, I'm a 34 year old Spaniard who likes roof-top terraces, an ocean view, and smooth skin. Nice to meet you. Let me tell you about us, and what we're looking for with your designs.
My company is called Waxxsy, and we're a bodywaxing products e-commerce company based out of Naples, Florida (makes sense now, right?). If you'd like to check out the main product we'll be selling on our website, check out depilflax.es and look at their products section, as we will be the exclusive distributors of Depilflax products in the USA. These guys make THE best bodywax. You'll notice their colors are white, light greens and light blues. In essence, these are bodywaxing products for use in professional salons as well as (thanks to us) for individuals to use at home and self-wax. We had to really convince them to let us do that last part. The parent company is based in Spain and that's where these products are made. I and the other co-owner happen to be Spaniard as well. Viva España! I have various ideas on how to pay homage to my home country, but I don't want to influence the design too much. *Feb 16 Update - no more crowns please, thank you*. By all means you can do something completely different, and I'd like to also see things completely of your own creativity that perhaps have nothing to do with Spain, and are just an elegant fit for what is one of the best bodywaxes in the world.
Our target market are not just professional salons, but individuals who will wax at home and skip the expensive salon. I'd say 70% women, 30% men (we know this because my co-owner has owned and operated a bodywaxing salon for 7 years, her colors are purple and green). Age wise, I'd say 70% 18-34 year olds, and 30% 35-60 year olds will be the most interested in waxing at home, since it will be less expensive. So predominantly younger women. But we don't want an overly feminine feel to the logo, as straight men also account for a healthy portion of our consumer base, so we're not going to be implementing any pink bubbles, right? Right.
I look forward to your timeless, clean design ideas. We're shaping so much of the company design around the logo you're going to be designing, so this is such an important part. Our website background will likely be pure white so our products seem to float on the page (just like they do on depilflax.es, since we're using their images), so a transparent logo that works on any color background is ideal. Oh, and we'll be huge into social media, so a logo that is not only transparent but is also not necessarily square or round is key for looking great on any of the social media platforms and their different icon shapes is important. Looking good as a Twitter icon in small size as much as it does in normal size on our website will be the difficulty for you.
I'm hoping there's an element of the design that by itself will be Waxxsy (like Nike's "swoosh"), without the name of the company being next to it or across the middle of it. I'm looking for a symbol and text that work together and separately. So when the name of the company is not there, and it's just the symbol in a Twitter icon, that the symbol becomes memorable enough to remember that it is Waxxsy. Not an easy task, I know. Are you up for the challenge? I look forward to your submissions and working with you on the centerpiece of our company persona!
