The logo needs to strike a balance between ‘fun and funky’ and ‘professional and reliable’. I’m looking for something that screams ‘creativity!’ to copywriting clients and creative agencies, but also says ‘this guy is a serious business professional’ to corporate customers who need someone to write a tender application or annual report.
The logo should be useable as a profile pic on our business Twitter/LinkedIn/Facebook pages. It needs to look good when shrunk to an icon size, and ideally will be about as high as it is wide so it works as a square profile pic – although I don’t mind if that applies to the entire logo or just the graphical part (i.e. the bit excluding the company name).
I'm guessing the logo should include an octopus or some reference to an octopus (like maybe a tentacle?)
The current logo is attached – I think the main problems with it are:
1) it's a bit too 'cute' for a professional services business
2) it does not look good at smaller sizes
3) the graphical part (the octopus) is entwined with the company name, so we can't use it as a square Twitter or LinkedIn profile image.
