Reading Basecamp
no
READING BASECAMP guides teachers to understand the components of our language and to effectively teach using a Structured Literacy (Orton Gillingham) approach. It provides a safe space for educators to ask questions or begin learning without fear of judgment. It's a space to gather resources, refuel, and recharge. Our target audience is educators who teach reading, writing and spelling.
Create brief:
Your mission: create a memorable, inviting logo for a small business that focuses on teaching a specialized literacy approach (Orton-Gillingham) to educators. This approach is applicable to all readers, but is critical for teachers who are teaching students with reading difficulties like dyslexia.
Henri Brown, the owner, is the former director of a non-profit that specializes in helping lift up low income students with reading difficulties. She is continuing her passion by now focusing her efforts on training and providing resources for teachers in the U.S.
According to Henri, “As all great teachers know, teaching reading is an expedition. In fact, it is a series of expeditions as each child or each class a teacher encounters will be wondrous in new and unexpected ways.”
Designers, please think about what climbers/other adventurers have said about basecamps, and realize that we are applying these concepts to literacy.
What is a basecamp? A basecamp is a place from which expeditions set out. It’s a safe place to fuel up or refuel. A place to recharge. A place where you will find help. Where the rope starts.
