dcambridgG got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help higher ed administrators help students get to the polls
Check out dcambridgG's Logo design contest…
We are the leading association of higher education administrators, especially at the presidential level and where policymaking is concerned. We’re assembling a coalition of organizations to help higher education administrators get their students out to vote in November.
Given where we are in the election cycle, speed is arguably (a lot) more important than quality (above a minimum threshold), especially since the logo is likely to be of temporary use only. If you believe, as we do, that the future of this country could well turn on this election, and are looking for (more) ways to make a difference, we're your gig. Colleges and universities have always helped students get to the polls, and in the current chaos that role is even more important, but higher ed administrators are also trying to re-invent higher ed on the fly in this pandemic; they're overwhelmed and looking for advice they can trust--we and the groups working with us have the imprimatur, the reach, and the collective knowledge and experience to make sure they get the best advice possible. Any design needs to work well with the look-and-feel of our site and in the use cases attached (more detail about this on the screen grabs) We don't have strong feelings about anything in particular, but we do think the design should: • lean hard into abstract b/c it's basically a service on a tech platform and the audience is heterogeneous • lean into organic b/c it's online community-based, and we want to convince administrators that we can help them with students. (i.e. abstract + organic = digital + democracy) • lean hard into modern for the same reasons. • lean feminine b/c women are more active in online communities and elections and seem to be more active on our platform as well--but not so feminine that men are likely to be turned off--most of the upper echelon of higher ed is still male (opening up the pipeline for women and minorities is key for us) • learn hard into sophisticated--this election is no joking matter. Important: Needs to be compatible with attached brand guide
