IoT Belfast
I'm one of the organisers of the following meetup: IoT Belfast.
http://www.meetup.com/iotbelfast/events
To me Internet of Things is characterised by 3 things:
- hardware
- software
- connectivity
A decade or two ago it was referred to as "Machine to Machine". I.e. one computer talking directly to another, as opposed to a human typing in commands or input.
Most of what you seen in the media about IoT is nonsense. No one wants a connected fridge. Follow @InternetOfShit on Twitter to see what I mean. The best IoT projects often go unnoticed by the end user. They make important stuff happen as if by magic, with no human intervention.
We meet monthly in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Common themes include:
- Electronics
- New wireless networks for IoT (LoRa and SigFox).
- Big Data analysis (from thousands of sensors) using cloud computing
- Cyber Security.
- Manufacturing / Industry 4.0
I view the purpose of the group to be about bringing people from different industry sectors together, and creating a melting pot of ideas and skillsets that will hopefully spawn new business and create jobs.
I do not want the word "meetup" incorporated into the logo.
The logo will be used on a white (or light coloured background). Eventually I'll want a version for a black background, but not at this stage.
You may get a sense of what I like from http://www.codingfury.com, which is my company website (I'm currently updating it).
Obviously, I'm not looking a facsimile of my company logo.
The meetup is a social gathering for industry professionals to come together. Approximately half will be software developers, 1/4 will be electronics engineers, and the last quarter will be managers, designers etc.
A serious logo is fine, but I'd quite like something a tiny bit playful.
