Art & Design
We are a crew of women skaters in Calgary, Alberta. We recently learned to skate and are looking to grow the number of women who skateboard in the city. The logo we are looking to have designed will be turned into an embroidered patch or enamel lapel pin. The patch/pin will be given out to other women skaters that we meet while out skating. It is meant to act as a visual identifier of women skaters in Calgary. It is a sign of solidarity.
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Light neutrals: Purity, balance and sophistication. Dark neutrals: Formality, mystery, exclusivity and luxury. Let designers make suggestions:
No pink! We would like the edge of the logo to be rounded and without sharp edges - but it doesn't need to be a circle. Geometric shapes are ok. Max two colours, plus the base gold plating for the pin. Text isn't required but we are open to suggestions. Some text we like is: "you got it girl", "rad girl", "get rad". But are open to your ideas. The women skate community in Calgary is all-ages with skaters being 4-60 years old. We like the aesthetic of skateboard culture, but it is often sexist in its representations of women and overtly masculine. How could this aesthetic be used to represent us? A rule we have been thinking of is culture, not biology - meaning we don't necessarily need a women depicted in the logo (cause there are lots of different types of women on skateboards). But that doesn't mean that there isn't an anthropomorphic character of some sort. We are attaching a file with some drawings we did and a logo for Orbs skateboard wheels we like (but are open to all characters).
