Sleek modern logo for high-tech environmental research program

FAAST - Field Applications of Advanced Sensor Technology

FAAST is a new educational curriculum to teach earth and environmental science professionals how to use advanced technologies for field research. The program will provide instruction in lidar, hyperspectral imaging, drone operations, and other high-tech methods for conducting research about the earth and environment. Most of the technologies we use are photon-based, using electromagnetic waves like lasers, light, and radio waves to provide information about the environment and the surface of the earth. The logo should incorporate graphical elements that express this connection. Our clients will be advanced students or professionals in geology, forestry, environmental science, remediation, agriculture, energy, and minerals industries and graphical elements that hint at earth/environmental applications would be appropriate.

We want to establish some brand/design continuity with the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association (YBRA) logo that I have attached. Please use a color palette that matches or complements the YBRA badge logo. However, the look and feel of the FAST logo should be more modern and consistent with the advanced technology focus of the program. The design should incorporate graphical elements representing light/radio waves, sensors, photons etc. An example is the wi-fi type symbol in my decidedly unprofessional FAAST logo (attached), but other graphical elements conveying these concepts would be fine.
