Bu-bu was very responsive, very creative, and very helpful. He was the first to post a design and never stopped until it was perfect!
How Gizmosis started their app design journey
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
otto is a complete solution for an in-car infotainment system. otto runs on an Android tablet running OS 2.3.
otto is made to be primarily voice controlled however it's 7" tablet displays key information. The app will be a "container" for running other mini apps so it must allow for that.
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the app?
As it is for use in the car, the information displayed cannot be too small or too busy so it must be logical and intuitive. It should not be a distraction for the user to glance at it but it must provide the information in a relevant format. We would like to have several skin options so users can choose the theme they prefer for the look and feel. Open to all ideas.
We are wanting the main home screen designed so that it displays key information such as the time and date, weather, etc. The unit is connected to the internet so other information can be displayed such as Facebook updates/notifications (although these will be read out so as not to provide a distraction) and also an area where otto can display the voice to text input it receives and any output. If you wanted to create additional screens to demonstrate how the design would carry on through the rest of the app then this would be helpful too, eg media player, web browser, weather, email, maps, etc.
What to avoid
Whilst this is the design of the home screen, keep in mind that the same theme must carry through all of the other screens and settings pages.
