PROJECT 667
PROJECT 667 is a story-driven, monthly electronics education program dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and inventors. Each month, members get the next installment of the PROJECT 667 story and a selection of ready-to-solder electronics modules, as well as any tools they will need. Each of these modules link together to build complex systems as our members' expertise grows. For example, during year one, members will construct an interplanetary rover with capabilities similar to real-life NASA rovers. Our products do not require any previous electronics experience and are suitable for all ages, however they are targeted towards middle school and high school students.
Our story, set in 1959, follows FBI Agent Henry Madison as he investigates the mysteries of an Area 51-esque installation named PROJECT 667. His journal serves as the basis upon which this story is told. Our kit instructions are included at the end of each month in the form of notes from a scientist named Dr. Grace Hopper. In addition to these journal entries and notes, we include a collection of supporting documents from a confidential source.
What we're looking for our designer to do is take the rough document we've created and polish it. Additionally, the following objectives would also be accomplished:
1. Create a general template for how we can structure our documents each month.
2. Find a way for Madison's handwritten documents to be easier to read and quickly generated each month.
3. Prepare the document for printing in a 6x9'', full color format.
Although we've created our sample document that captures the general atmosphere we'd like to see in the books, feel free to use your creativity while designing. We'll be producing a new installment of the story every 3 weeks, so for the right designer, this could be a recurring role.
Note: Our kit instructions are still under development, so Dr. Hopper's section of installment one will be expanded in a couple weeks. There may also be small changes made to the body of the story. Because of this need for flexibility and our recurring production schedule, design flexibility is critical.
I've included a sample of installment one, our illustrations, as well as our current source text for the document. The exact text of the story isn't as important as the overall look and feel of your designs at the moment. We're looking for a designer to work with on a continuous basis, rather than a stand-alone design.
