alexander_roe got their new t-shirt by running a design contest:
VOLUMTRON: climbing meets transformers, embrace your inner child
Check out alexander_roe's T-shirt contest…
The shirt design is aimed at people who enjoy indoor rock climbing. I would like a anime/cartoon style big robot (think transformers) built out of climbing gym volumes (see references), in a superhero type stance. I think a bulkier robot would work best. It could have weapons if they fit the theme, like a impact driver or brush stick (see references). Lettering that suits the drawing style will go above or below that says "VOLUMTRON". Climbing holds could be added to the volumes to give extra shape as you see fit. Color is open. References: In the indoor climbing world workers called routesetters build the climbs for the gym customers. They do this with plastic screw on/bolt on holds and what is essentially wooden boxes called volumes. These can be big or small and change the landscape and angles of the wall. here are some references. A climbing route with volumes: https://twitter.com/ssclimbing/status/1148696081250869249 You can see here all the black triangle features attached to the wall. Many different shapes of volumes: https://www.voltomic.com/voltomic-en/ https://dimensionvolumes.com/#catalog Weapons: routesetters use impact drivers to attach volumes so this concept could be used for a weapon. https://images.app.goo.gl/EG8mxTChXVb8uLpg9 We also use what looks like a tooth brush attached to a long pole to clean holds out of reach, this could be adapted to some sort of staff. https://images.app.goo.gl/BiZx9j2iB2moPSpy7 Holds on volumes to give more shape: https://images.app.goo.gl/3kyMDK854NWRKnLZ7 you can see on this huge football volume that holds of all shapes can be attached.
The big robot and lettering as described above.
What to avoid
It is important to stick to the indoor climbing theme, having the robot composed of mainly volumes and a few other aspects on theme.
