SA-AUS got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Create the next website design for Slattery Auctions Australia
Check out SA-AUS's Web page design contest…
Slattery Auctions Australia has become the most dynamic auction house and valuation practice in Australia. Their diversity, flexibility, experience and broad spectrum of specialities has set them apart from larger bulk handling competitors. Slattery Auctions and Valuations have the experience and capabilities to value and dispose of assets including, among others; • Plant and Equipment • Heavy industrial equipment • Manufacturing • Mining equipment • Cars and Prestige Vehicles • Aviation • Trucks & Trailers • Marine Slattery Auctions run both traditional in room auctions, onsite auctions as well as online auctions and live simulcast of all auctions over the web. Target Audience is Vendors (inc Perspective Buyers) & Buyers – In that order of importance. They come to the site for information on items mainly (inc Photos / Spec Sheets). Then in some cases to bid live.
We like the existing colours used on our site with the exception of the orange. We do not like the font as it looks to much like simple text. The use of meaningful images for categorisation would be good. I have attached our logo and style guide to assist.
Homepage must contain banner section with navigation buttons. It should draw potential buyers to our upcoming auctions. It needs to contain a search feature allowing users to search our auctions. Buy now and Expressions of interest need to be more prominent. We like how the existing site gives easy access to upcoming auctions. Needs to have a login section for members, as well as an area to register for alerts and newsletters. While we think the existing site is easy to navigate, it looks outdated and cluttered. We would also like the home page and all other pages to fill the browser window. Would like socail media integration. Currently use Facebook. Auction Page must give the user easy access to the upcoming auctions and items up for auction. Also like a featured items/featured auction section. Break auctions down into regions to allow customers to search for a particular item in a particular region. Further pages must have a consistent template.
What to avoid
We don't wish to appear like a retail business.
We really like the layout of the examples given, especially http://www.riocoffee.com.au/ and http://www.margan.com.au/ We have a deadline of March 31st.

SA-AUS collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
