jrsd80 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Edible landscapes in our urban neighborhoods
Check out jrsd80's Web page design contest…
My target audience are municipal decision-makers, mayors, city counsellors and municipal employees of the environmental department. I sell urban orchards to be installed in public parks and green areas.
I have had a logo, a business card and a brochure designed, they capture quite well what I am going for so I will make sure to upload them so you can take a look and use them for inspiration. I really like the style of the business card, the black and pink contrast well to define me and have that edgy feel. The web site tesla.com captures the minimalist/ clean feel I am looking for, so please visit the web site for style inspiration. I also cut and pasted an example web site I found interesting. I have uploaded the pasted together print screens I have taken from it
Here I explain my vision of the site but feel free to throw some personal inspiration in there! -Page1 (Landing page )Once you type in my web address and press "Enter" I want my logo with urban orchard installation written. As you scroll down, I would like 2 large buttons asking whether the visitor is a citizen or a municipal decision-maker. These will take the visitors to the information that is the most pertinent to them. If you scroll down some more I would like there to be my Bio (meet the expert) with a picture of myself and the bit of descriptive text I wrote. At the bottom of the bio I want to see my phone number and e-mail plus a link to my facebook https://www.facebook.com/delicieuxdecors/ As in the Tesla.com web page, I would like a top right corner "pop open" menu, on every page, that is a short-cut to every section of the site. I live and offer my services in a bilingual province (French and English) so I need a quick access link to the french version of the site to show up as the first option in this menu (Français, Home, Citizens, Leaders, FAQ, Fruit list, Bio, Contact us and download our brochure) -(Page 2) Citizen, I have provided a long text that I would like to have artfully presented in this section. I want to include in this section the illustration of the fruit trees in the park that I had created to illustrate my project. Feel free to throw in a few images (Could be stock) that won't be in the plant list, it will help break up the monotony of the long text. I want this to be inspirational and make people want to call their elected municipal leaders to prompt them to learn more about what I do. Could be a nice place to use the pictures of the kids/ family picking fruits ***Bonus points if it is a multicultural /non-traditional white family*** At the bottom of this page I would like to have a link to my facebook page but NOT the rest of my contact information -(Page 3) Municipal decision-makers, this is the page that counts since this is where my potential clients should be clicking. I want this section to be extra classy. Once again I need to have included the image/sketch I had created of the fruit trees in the park so the people can visually understand what I am offering. The text should do most of the work but matching pertinent imagery to it will really prompt them to go along with the idea. At the bottom of this page, my e-mail address and my phone number should be available -(page 4)Fruit tree list, I have provided a description for every fruit tree that I offer, I also bothered to get a picture for all of them. This is where I want you to go to " https://alvarotrigo.com/fullPage/extensions/parallax.html#firstPage " . That "one scroll", page shift effect is amazing. I would like for each different fruit tree to show up as an individual "card". For the first round, you do not have to create all of the different fruits. A demo o 4-5 examples will do in order for me to understand what style you will be using and to save you some work if ever you weren't chosen -(Page 5) FAQ This page is pretty straightforward. I would like to dress it up so there is a sense of unity with the rest of the site. Again a long block of text so do your best attempt to break it up elegantly. Feel free to use images I have provided or to go get a few stock images that are theme-appropriate.
What to avoid
If you chose a stock image I DO NOT want something that looks like people picking on an industrial farm or a U-Pick with long rows of (ex) apple trees or in a strawberry field. My project has flowers and plants at the foot of the fruit trees and the varieties are diversified..
I have uploaded a brand guide that outlines the colours that were used in the other projects, using this guide will allow everything to have a nice united feel to my brand. I have mentionned it a few times already but the tesla.com web site is definitely a style that captures what I am going for, take a minute to check out the landing page and they way it is built. My site does not have to be a clone of it either but the ease of navigation and the cleanliness is what I am going for. The texts I provide are in tables that I used to translate everything while I was in the writing process. I do not want the tables on the web site, please only use the English part of the text.
