I tried to take into account having a symbol that wasn't stereotypical of the Republican party, but still reflected its values. The flame is similar to the idea behind Rand and Cruz's flames on their logos. It is meant to represent liberty. The star in the middle of the flame is also meant to be indicative of the Oklahoma State Seal. The rest of the design is intended to show patriotism through the red and blue colors used and the red \"Governor\" is meant to highlight the color of the party. This design worked better with this sans serif font as well. Overall, I also felt that this design was meant to be bold so it grabs the viewer's attention. My designs were eventually in the finals, but ultimately did not win.")

I wanted to create a design that would work well with the type of photography the client did and I wanted it to be simple enough that it wouldn't distract anyone viewing the photograph. He indicated that he wanted it to be modern, so the font reflects this through its simple and clean lines. The Futura font is bold and the outline of the box is also bold to highlight the edgy motorsport, off-roading, desert driving type of photos the client took. Essentially, it's bold and rugged. I also added the star as the \"A\" as an extra touch since it's part of the photographer's nickname. This works in lighter gray colors and works well when it's more opaque.")

The speech bubbles are meant to look as if they're text messages on a phone. The send button is also meant to very (very) subtly look like a cross as well - since the book is about Christian's discussing their spiritual stories together. I also wanted to convey a design that was personal and cell phones are incredibly personal devices. The client also wanted a more masculine design with blue colors, so that's why the speech bubbles are blue and green and I felt a black background made it look more modern and masculine as well. The font is Roboto - a clean and open source font, that again highlighted the idea of \"modern Christianity\". I felt it was a modern and inviting typeface.
It's similar to the revised Helvetica Neue font that is used on iPhones. I preferred the colored photo that the client provided since the green background in the photo went well with the green speech bubbles.")

These two shapes were put together to look like a speech/chat bubble - a symbol to show that the client's school concept is about short snippets of useful education. Bringing the H and U together made the symbol more compact - further indicating that her concept is about being short, sweet and simple. I used Rockwell since it looks like a traditional university font that still looked modern and professional because of its hard edges. The A and the V are stylized to look like little pencils. I feel that if a logo is effective it needs to work in black and white first. This can very easily work well with most any color including the deep blue the client wanted.")
